The story of Stephanie Joy Bradley is an interesting tale that resides in all of us. The discovery of what our purpose in life might be. Some of us figure it out early, some figure it out and then change it, some take awhile. In this quickly evolving mystery, we follow Stephanie, a twelve year old middle school student, through the trials and tribulations that we all face or faced around the same age.
You quickly find yourself rooting for Stephanie, who is a bright, very aware, and somewhat snarky, tomboy who unintentionally and intentionally gets herself into many sticky situations. She's a good kid at heart and she always means well, but she's still a kid.
Throughout your journey in Letter #3 there are some interesting nuggets. One nugget you wont get just from reading it is that every number in the book has a corresponding bible verse that foreshadows the theme of that moment. Including friendship, hope, concern, etc. The book is not about religion or religious at all (other than Uncle Jay who is a pastor), but I thought it would be a fun item to put into the book for those that look for those kind of things.
Ultimately, you rise and fall with the emotions of a twelve year old as she tries to figure out all of her mysteries. Here are some of the frequently asked questions that I've received so far about the book that you might have as well or be curious about:
1. How long did it take you to write Letter #3? 27 days for the core of the book, 65,000 words in those 27 days. Although, prior to final manuscript submission, I altered the ending to close one story line and open another for the second book.
2. How many books will there be? At least three. Letter #3 is the first book of what is currently a trilogy. However, it could go more than three. The Key is currently in the writing process and is developing into quite a story itself.
3. Why is it from a 12 year old girl's perspective? The original idea formulated between four and five years ago. I was trying to tell the story from the adult perspective, with the same concept and delivery. While watching I Am Eleven, a documentary about eleven year old children from around the world, I switched gears and it became obvious that I needed to write it from that perspective. Once that decision was made, the words flowed from my imagination to my fingertips and the book was created.
4. Why #whereiread? I put in the hashtag where I read and found that it had very little use on Facebook, from that point, I opted to take it over. It's obviously open to the public, but if you put it into your search, you'll find many of the Letter #3 readers and fans have taken selfies with the book.
